Gregory and the Hawk

Meredith Godreau, a New York-based artist, established the alias Gregory & the Hawk in 2003 to sidestep media stereotypes commonly tied to female singer/songwriters. Skilled to the same degree on guitar, piano, and violin, she saw her self-produced recordings attract listeners online, which in turn prompted numerous covers by devoted fans that appeared on assorted social platforms. Her widely recognized independent methods, demonstrated by the sale of 15,000 albums without label involvement, generated sold-out performances and supported the making of her 2007 full-length debut In Your Dreams, which in time brought a contract with Fat Cat Records. That partnership yielded the 2008 release Moenie & Kitchi, with Leche following in 2010.
