Biography
Born Chris Oroc, DJ Babu belongs to both Dilated Peoples and the intermittently active Beat Junkies crew. Based in California, he started creating mix tapes during the early 1990s before officially entering the Beat Junkies ranks in 1994. His competitive record includes the 1997 DMC Championship along with several ITF victories. Esteemed within battle circles, he has both performed in and emceed numerous instructional videos while also releasing, as Turntablist, the widely circulated 1996 battle tool Super Duck Breaks—whose sales surpassed 10,000 units—and its 2000 sequel, Super Duper Duck Breaks.
