Biography
Shane Tutmarc operates under the Dolour banner for both his songwriting and the rotating group of musicians he gathers for each project. Because the lineup shifts frequently, the resulting music displays considerable variation from one release to the next. The steady presence across Tutmarc’s work remains its pop foundation, informed by the styles of Brian Wilson, the Beatles, the Flaming Lips, Paul Simon, and Pink Floyd.
Although earlier versions of the project date to 1997, the first official Dolour long-player, Waiting for a World War, surfaced in April 2001 through Sonic Boom Recordings. Favorable notices prompted a short-lived configuration of the band to complete a brief West Coast tour. Dolour resurfaced in 2002 with the notably cohesive second album, also titled Waiting for a World War. ~ Solar Marquardt
