Biography
Hailing from Alabama yet based in Tennessee, Will Owsley performed as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His first notable work occurred in 1993 when he joined the power pop band the Semantics, and the following year he joined Amy Grant’s touring band. After the Semantics disbanded, earnings from his period with Grant enabled him to construct a home studio, where he spent four years completing his debut solo album. Issued under the name Owsley alone, the self-titled record came out on Giant in 1999. Lakeview Entertainment released The Hard Way in February 2004. He remained active as a session guitarist and producer through the rest of the decade. In April 2010, at age 44, he died of an apparent suicide in Franklin, TN.
