Biography
Operating under the name Dorine_Muraille, French electronica musician Julien Locquet crafts glitch-ridden, fragmented soundscapes reminiscent of Oval's Markus Popp by taking traditional French compositions and transforming them into something fresh yet equally enchanting. He also works as :Gel, issuing an Artefact album along with a 12" series under that alias. For Dorine_Muraille, Locquet joined forces with writer Chloe Delaume, whose second novel Le Cri du Sablier earned widespread praise and multiple awards within France's literary circles. The resulting blend of Delaume's delicate singing and surreal lyrics with Locquet's equally fragile yet challenging music first surfaced on Mani, issued by the arty U.K. label Fat Cat within its Splinter series during spring 2003. Selections from the album surfaced that same year on various compilations such as Fat Cat's Branches and Routes, Active Suspension's Variable Access, and Plop's Micro Blue.
