During the early 1990s, Bristol, England’s Dreamscape produced dream pop in the vein of Lush and the Cocteau Twins. Scott Purnell and Jamie Gingell, both of whom also played in the Sarah Records outfit Secret Shine, joined vocalist Rebecca Rawlings to form the group. The trio put out its debut single, Blackflower/Evergreen, in 1990 before securing a deal with La-Di-Da Records, the label that issued the Cradle EP in 1992. Dreamscape tracked a follow-up EP intended for release under the title Greater Than God in 1993, though the project remained unreleased; Secret Shine later adopted that same title for one of its own EPs. Kranky Records gathered the unfinished EP, the earlier Cradle release, and several demos captured just prior to the band’s dissolution, issuing the material in 2012 as The La-Di-Da Recordings.
