Emerging from Virginia's suburban outskirts, the emocore outfit Fairweather rose to prominence in the new millennium's indie scene after completing support tours with the Juliana Theory, the Stryder, and Dashboard Confessional. The band's sound drew on influences including New Order, the Cure, and Sunny Day Real Estate, which informed the February 2001 release of their debut album If They Move...Kill Them. Additional touring preceded the late-summer 2002 appearance of the four-song EP Alaska, whose expanded palette incorporated elements of My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and Fugazi. Vocalist Jay Littleton, guitarists/vocalists Ben Green and Peter Tsouras, bassist Ben Murphy, and drummer Shane Johnson tracked their sophomore full-length in early spring 2003 with producer J. Robbins (Jets to Brazil, the Promise Ring), resulting in the July release of Lusitania. The group disbanded in 2004; Tsouras and Johnson subsequently joined the emo rock outfit Olympia.
