Farwarmth

Afonso Arrepia Ferreira, a composer from Portugal, operates under the FARWARMTH moniker to produce expansive and profoundly affecting works blending electro-acoustic and ambient elements. For instance, his 2020 release Momentary Glow converts improvisational acoustic performances into eerie, fragmented sonic environments marked by glitches, static, and distortion. The initial FARWARMTH full-length, Beneath the Pulse from 2016, marked the debut issuance from Ferreira's own digital label Alienação. In 2018, the ACR imprint based in London put out Immeasurable Heaven, a release characterized by its darker and more abrasive textures. Joining forces with Rui P. Andrade, Ferreira formed the HRNS project, resulting in a pair of singles plus an EP that year, followed by the complete album Naomi in 2019. Planet Mu issued the third FARWARMTH effort, Momentary Glow, during 2020. Spanning four years of work, this album drew primarily upon recordings captured during a 2018 artists' residency involving improvisations by Ferreira's relatives and acquaintances on instruments including cello, flute, and accordion.
