Emerging from Germany, the jazz collective Fazer weaves an inventive sound that fuses Chicago post-rock, Indian classical elements, electronic dub, and traditions from Africa and Latin America. Their first album, Mara, appeared in 2018, with subsequent growth evident on Nadi in 2019 and Plex in 2022.

Rooted in Munich, the group revolves around the core trio of bassist Martin Brugger, guitarist Paul Brändle, and drummer Simon Popp, who first connected during jazz studies at the Academy for Music and Theater in Munich. Their approach draws from modern creative jazz alongside saxophonist Peter Brötzmann, Afro-beat legend Fela Kuti, and art-rock ensemble Can, shaping a distinctive blend that later incorporated trumpeter Matthias Lindermayr and drummer Sebastian Wolfgruber. The expanded lineup issued debut album Mara in 2018. Nadi followed a year later, tracked in London with Ben Lamdin of Nostalgia 77, while third album Plex surfaced in January 2022.
