Forester, the Los Angeles-based pair consisting of longtime companions David Parris and Xander Carlson, fuse synthesized beats with organic playing, wistful singing, and an airy aesthetic that conjures open landscapes. The two, acquainted since adolescence and veterans of spinning records at parties plus neighborhood warehouses, spent nearly ten years working together before unveiling the project in 2019. Their initial release, the tranquil single “Spark,” appeared that year and quickly gained traction on streaming platforms thanks to promotion from Trap Nation; its pulsing synth lines, strummed guitars, and ethereal voices anchored the debut full-length Kerosene, issued later in 2019. That success led to a contract with the Sony subsidiary Palm Tree Records, Kygo’s own label, and the follow-up Range of Light emerged in 2020 after sessions held inside a Sierra Nevadas cabin amid pandemic restrictions. The nature-focused set was followed in 2022 by Watercolor, while the band developed a concert presence that included an inaugural show supporting Kygo at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and additional dates alongside the Norwegian artist in Oslo and Mexico City. Further 2023 singles such as “All I Need” set the stage for the fourth album, Moonlight, which arrived in early 2024 and included contributions from Wye Oak and Jai Wolf.
