Biography
Four Star Mary secured their initial breakthrough when they supplied the music for "Dingoes Ate My Baby," the fictional group fronted by Oz on the WB series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Although the ensemble existed only within the program's storyline, the actual five-piece outfit operates as a legitimate rock band based in Los Angeles.
The group formed in 1997, drawing its personnel from scattered locations: frontman Tad originated in Texas, guitarist Zu was raised in the San Fernando Valley, and bassist Steve arrived from San Francisco. United by a shared passion for music, the lineup stabilized only toward the end of the decade. Dave assumed guitar responsibilities once founding member Falon departed, while Chris took over drums after original percussionist Buddy exited to marry.
The visibility gained from their Buffy association prompted additional placements on Party of Five and MTV's The Real World. Enthusiastic listener responses soon inundated the band's inbox with orders for its 1997 self-titled EP, which ultimately moved more than 4,000 units and prompted the members to distribute their recordings online. Two years later they issued Thrown to the Wolves through MSG Records.
