Frank Hamilton

Not to be confused with the American folk musician and former Weaver who shares his name, Frank Hamilton is a British singer/songwriter whose passionate, earnest delivery evokes the style of Glen Hansard.

Raised in Cambridgeshire, England, Hamilton first experimented with trumpet and drums in his youth before acquiring an electric guitar at sixteen, an instrument that prompted him to start composing songs. His initial breakthrough came via the uptempo love song “You, Your Cat & Me,” a MySpace cult favorite in the U.K. drawn from the 2008 EP that bore the same title. The Words and Nothing More EP appeared in 2011, followed by his strongest streaming success to date, the late-2012 LP Best of #OneSongAWeek. Conceived as the outcome of a year-long songwriting challenge, the collection contained tracks co-written with then-rising star Ed Sheeran and fellow folk-rock heir Newton Faulkner, among others. After the album’s release, Hamilton undertook extensive U.K. touring, highlighted by a 2013 Hyde Park performance alongside Elvis Costello and Ray Davies. The same year saw the issuance of #LondonEyeEP and All of #OneSongAWeek. His second full-length, Songs to Make Life Slightly Less Awkward, surfaced in the latter half of 2016, fronted by the poppier single “Lovedrug.”
