Biography
Fred Gianelli entered the world in Boston, where his initial forays into electronic music took shape during the closing years of the 1970s under the moniker Turning Tranz. His path shifted decisively following a 1984 encounter with Genesis P. Orridge of Psychic TV, which occurred at a radio station in his area. Gianelli joined the ensemble by 1988, contributing to the projects Techno Acid Beat and Kondole. Over time he distanced himself from Psychic TV, initiating a collaboration with Richie Hawtin on the Plus 8 imprint under the name Spawn. He went on to establish the Telepathic label beneath the Plus 8 umbrella, issuing his industrial and techno works credited to Acid Didj, Gianelli, Deneuve, and Mazdaratti; these selections appear together on the compilation Telepathic Wisdom, Vol. 1 from Telepathic.
