Biography
Frédéric François, the pop performer known for establishing his reputation across Belgium through a four-decade run, entered the world as Francesco Barracatto in Italy during June 1950 before his family moved to Belgium during his early childhood. Local venues first heard him perform at age 12, marking the start of a path that led to his debut single appearing in 1971. That release inaugurated a steady sequence of singles issued across the following twenty years. Although various compilations circulated during the same period, his initial official album did not surface until 1993. Additional full-length projects followed, among them Merci la Vie, which registered European chart success in 2007—a level of recognition to which François had grown accustomed over time.
