Biography
Atmospheric death metal outfit Garden of Shadows emerged in 1995 when surviving members of Funeral Opera regrouped. The Maryland-based group brought in a second guitarist, cycled through several drummers until the roster settled, adopted its current name in 1996, and began laying down demo recordings. Those tapes moved steadily in the local market and earned favorable notices in underground fanzines. The band inked a deal with X-Rated Records in 1998, appended one fresh track, and put the original demos back into circulation. Early the next year the act shifted to Wicked World, played shows in the Czech Republic, and tracked its debut full-length, Oracle Moon, which appeared in summer 2000.
