Biography
Daylight Dies traces its origins to Raleigh, North Carolina, where guitarist Barre Gambling and drummer Jesse Haff launched the project in 1996. Three years passed before they captured their debut demo, enlisting session musicians to round out the recordings. Guthrie Iddings entered as vocalist in 2000 to front the Idle E.P., after which bassist Egan O'Rourke arrived the following year to finalize the roster and secure a deal with Relapse Records. Their first official album for the imprint, No Reply, appeared in 2003 and embodied the quintessential doom/death metal approach associated with European outfits such as Anathema and Katatonia.
