Biography
Formed in 2000, the Chilean doom metal group known as Mar de Grises, which translates to Sea of Gray in English, issued a demo in 2002 that proved potent enough to land a contract with Firebox Records. The label subsequently put out the band’s first full-length album, The Tatterdemalion Express, in 2004. Positive response to the record allowed Mar de Grises to enter the European doom metal circuit, where they performed in France, Holland, Spain, and Germany, among other countries. After four years of relative quiet, the group stirred back to life in 2008 by releasing its second album, Draining the Waterheart, and embarking on another European tour during the late spring of that year.
