Biography
Following the Sugarcubes' breakup, Björk moved swiftly toward avant pop recognition, yet her ever-eccentric bandmate Einar Örn Benediktsson—frequently shortened to Einar Örn and recognized for his trumpet playing and shouting—stepped away from music for a full decade. He resurfaced in 2004 with the solo project Ghostigital on Honest Jons, an album cut alongside Icelandic multi-instrumentalist Curver; the pair later borrowed the record's title for all subsequent work. In 2005 the Ghostigital project joined Mike Patton's Ipecac roster and drew in labelmates Mugison and Dälek, plus Fall leader Mark E. Smith, the Jungle Brothers' Sensational, and avant-gardist Steve Beresford for joint efforts. Fusing industrial textures with jazz, rap with electronica, and an assortment of other approaches, Ghostigital delivered the genre-colliding In Cod We Trust in 2006.
