Biography
Early accolades for pianist Giacomo Scinardo paved the way for a global trajectory that eventually led to his affiliation with Sony Classical, where his debut album appeared in 2019. Born on December 27, 1983, in the Sicilian city of Paternò, he has maintained his home in the nearby city of Catania. Among his instructors were such noted pianists as Philippe Entremont and Leslie Howard. As a younger artist he claimed victory in more than twenty competitions both within Italy and beyond its borders. His recital engagements have extended across Asia, Russia, the United States, and Europe, reaching venues that include the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Siam Ratchada Auditorium in Bangkok, Thailand. Concerto performances have placed him alongside the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania. Festival appearances have taken him to the Samuel Barber International Festival in Pennsylvania and the Bangkok International Piano Festival. Broadcasts on national radio services have included BBC Radio 3, RAI Radio 3 in Italy, and Radio France.
As a teacher he remains sought after, conducting master classes at the University of Michigan School of Music, the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow, and the University of Bangkok. In the late 2010s he issued critically noted recordings on the Dynamic label, one presenting the complete piano works of Modest Mussorgsky and another focused on Erik Satie. In 2019 he transferred to Naxos, releasing an album that encompassed the four piano sonatas of composer Bechara El-Khoury together with additional shorter pieces by the same composer. Later the same year he joined Sony Classical and launched the initial volume of a projected survey of all 110 piano sonatas by Muzio Clementi.
