Reinhart's approach to singing, fusing the smooth delivery of a jazz crooner with the raw force of a soulful belt, secured her a finalist spot on American Idol in 2011. She started performing at age eight and later joined her parents' cover ensemble during high school in Wheeling, Illinois. After receiving her diploma in 2009, she enrolled in jazz studies at Harper College. Her initial Idol audition occurred the next year, yet only a return appearance in summer 2010 advanced her to the semifinals. Competing among rock and country vocalists in the show's tenth season, she distinguished herself with a repertoire that mixed vintage numbers such as "Bennie and the Jets" and "Steppin' Out with My Baby" alongside current material like Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." A third-place finish brought a recording deal with Interscope Records. Her debut album, Listen Up!, appeared in 2012 and included the single "Free." Concert promotion and media pushes occupied much of 2013 and 2014, carrying her performances abroad. The bulk of 2015 found her aligned with Postmodern Jukebox, where she reinterpreted songs by Radiohead, the Cardigans, Britney Spears, Soundgarden, and the White Stripes while also reshaping recent tracks by Tove Lo and Meghan Trainor. Her version of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" emerged as the standout viral success, landing her on the Billboard charts. Capitalizing on that exposure, she issued the album Better in 2016 and followed it with the covers collection What's That Sound? in 2017. In 2018 she released the single "Last Kiss Goodbye," an original that blended jazz, bossa nova, and pop elements.
