Singer/songwriter Leroy Virgil fronts Hellbound Glory, a rowdy country outfit that evades standard outlaw tropes. He started the project with the 2008 release Scumbag Country and sustained the group across multiple personnel shifts during the subsequent decade. Raised in Aberdeen, Washington, Virgil first performed with the band Soylint Green there. His 2002 relocation to Reno, Nevada led him to assemble Hellbound Glory’s original lineup. That configuration issued Scumbag Country as its debut album in 2008, then delivered Old Highs New Lows two years afterward. Damaged Goods arrived in 2011 and received added exposure after Kid Rock chose the band for his Chillin’ the Most Cruise; the rapper later booked them as support in 2013. Virgil pursued a stripped-down acoustic direction on the 2014 LV EP before shelving the Hellbound Glory name for several years. He revived the project in 2017 with the Shooter Jennings-produced Pinball.
