Biography
Holy Mother originated in Long Island, New York, during 1993 when ex-Burning Starr vocalist and guitarist Mike Tirelli assembled the band. Guitarist Spike Francis, bassist Randy Coven, and drummer Jim Harris completed the lineup, which aimed to recapture the essence of 1980s metal through their self-titled debut album released in 1995. The following year brought an abrupt shift to industrial sounds on Tabloid Crush, prompting a temporary name change to N.O.W. (Not Our World) for that record. Restoration of the Holy Mother moniker and a return to classic metal occurred ahead of Toxic Rain in 1998. Fresh guitarists Rich Naso and Jim Bivano contributed to that effort as well as Criminal Afterlife from 1999, with Bivano staying on for later power metal-oriented releases including My World War in 2000 and Agoraphobia in 2003. In 2005, Tirelli became a member of Riot, another established New York metal act, yet prospects for future Holy Mother recordings remain viable.
