Biography
Hans Peter Wilhelm Kerkeling, the actor, writer, and humorist born in Recklinghausen in 1961, devised Horst Schlämmer, among the most recognized figures in German television comedy. His initial break arrived with the 1984 series Kanguru, after which he secured his own program, Total Normal, in 1989. That opportunity launched an extended career that placed him among his nation’s foremost comedic pranksters. Kerkeling’s signature creation, Horst Schlämmer, functions as a reporter for the fictional newspaper Grevenbroicher Tagblatt. The persona poses authentic questions about current affairs to real individuals while ignoring standard social boundaries with strangers, such as employing informal pronouns and addressing people as “sweetheart.” The single “Schaetzelein” appeared in 2006, and the character later received a video-game role in 2007.
