Biography
From Akron, Ohio, If These Trees Could Talk fuse exploratory post-rock with metallic intensity, yielding expansive textures shot through with sudden bursts of force. Their approach, echoing Mogwai and Russian Circles, relies on prominent delay to trace constant shifts between dynamic extremes while the three-guitar formation immerses audiences in rippling currents of luminous tone. Guitarists Jeff Kalal, Cody Kelly, and Mike Socrates joined bassist Tom Fihe and drummer Zack Kelly to establish the group, which surfaced in 2006 through a self-titled EP. The all-instrumental five-piece reached full-length status in 2009 when Above the Earth, Below the Sky appeared on Metal Blade. Their next album, Red Forest, followed in 2012, with The Bones of a Dying World arriving in 2016.
