Biography
Originating from Münster, the German post-rock/metal outfit Long Distance Calling came together during 2006. A string of jam sessions with multiple players gave rise to the project, yet once efforts to locate a permanent singer proved unsuccessful the group opted to focus on instrumental material. That same year saw the creation of their DMNSTRTN demo, which earned positive notices throughout the German press. Satellite Bay, the band’s debut studio album, appeared in 2007 and included guest vocals supplied by the Haunted vocalist Peter Dolving. Avoid the Light followed in 2009 under the production guidance of Kurt Ebelhäuser from the band Blackmail. Two years afterward the self-titled third album arrived; it became the first Long Distance Calling release to chart inside their homeland, reaching number 36, and earned Album of the Year recognition from Metal Hammer along with other music publications in the post-hardcore and rock/metal categories. Building on that momentum, the musicians tracked The Flood Inside in 2013, enlisting vocalist Martin Fischer for selected tracks. TRIPS surfaced in 2016 and Boundless appeared in 2018, both issued through Inside Out Music.
