Biography
Indian Handcrafts originated when Brandyn James Aikins and Daniel Brandon Allen, the sole compatible members of their prior group, decided to form a duo instead. The pair crafted a riff-driven sludge rock style laced with psychedelic textures after striking out on their own. Allen handled guitar while Aikins played drums, and the two shared vocal responsibilities, echoing the approach of the Melvins and Big Business by delivering enormous riffs at high volume despite their reduced lineup. Their first release arrived in 2011 as a self-titled, self-issued album, followed in 2012 by Civil Disobedience for Losers on Sargent House, which Toshi Kasai produced.
Over the ensuing eighteen months the duo maintained a rigorous touring schedule of headline dates and support slots alongside Deafheaven. Late in 2014 they headed to Los Angeles to record their next album once more with Kasai. During the following summer they revealed the forthcoming Creeps by streaming its opening track, “It’s Late Queeny.” Creeps reached stores on October 2 after the band completed a run of dates with Mutoid Man.
