Hailing from Brooklyn, Infinity Shred produces sweeping instrumentals designed for stargazing by merging chiptune textures with post-rock dynamics and sci-fi soundtrack aesthetics. The project grew from Starscream, the earlier chiptune duo of programmer Damon Hardjowirogo and drummer George Stroud. After issuing the 2009 EP Future, and It Doesn't Work through the 8bitpeoples netlabel plus a split 7" alongside Anamanaguchi, widely regarded as the chiptune scene’s foremost act, Starscream put out their self-released debut album Future, Towards the Edge of Forever in 2011. Guitarist Nathan Ritholz and bassist Kotaro Tsukada added parts to the record, which expanded on prior material with greater weight and scope. Legal pressures prompted a name change to Infinity Shred, drawn from one of the album’s track subtitles, while Ritholz joined as a permanent member. The group followed with the 2012 EP 001 (Gnar Dream) before issuing their first full-length, Sanctuary, via Paracadute in 2013. Shortly after that release Stroud departed for Berlin, and Clara Warnaar took over on drums in 2015. Infinity Shred resurfaced in late 2016 with Long Distance on Adafruit, an intensified set shaped by metal and progressive trance. The companion remix collection Even Further appeared the next year through Zoom Lens.
