Biography
Jack DeKeyzer demonstrates proficiency across multiple roles, serving as singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer while building his reputation primarily in blues despite excursions into rock and country. His entry into professional music occurred during the 1980s through the Bopcats, with whom he completed two albums before joining the Rock Angels and eventually pursuing a solo path. Since establishing himself independently, DeKeyzer has earned recognition including Best Blues Album, Best Guitarist, Best Blues Recording, and additional honors, along with a Juno Award nomination.
Born in England, DeKeyzer developed an early passion for music and found guitar technique came naturally. Across decades in the industry he has performed with multiple bands, contributed session guitar work for many artists, and founded his own imprint, Blue Star. Warner Music issued his first solo effort, Hard Working Man, in 1991, followed four years later by the sophomore album Wild at Heart; he closed the decade with the release of Down in the Groove. Tracks appearing on his blues recordings include “The Way that I Love You,” “I Need a Break,” “High on Your Love,” “Touch of the Blues,” and “When Love Walks Out.”
