Biography
Drawing from early psychedelic folk, country, and the tinny tones of portable-radio '70s AM pop, N.Y.C.-based singer/songwriter Jackie Cohen crafts a wistful strain of indie pop. Backup vocals for Foxygen came first, followed by the arrival of her own debut EP in 2018.
Born in the San Fernando Valley, she relocated as a young adult to Manhattan’s Lower East Side in the early 2010s, where literature studies eventually gave way to experiments in poetry, spoken-word performance, and songwriting. Those efforts earned admiration from like-minded retro-leaning indie artists, leading to her piano, sitar, and vocal contributions on Foxygen’s 2014 LP …And Star Power. She later signed with Spacebomb Records for her solo career. The resulting debut EP, Tacoma Night Terror, Pt. 1: I've Got the Blues, arrived in 2018 under the production of Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado and the Lemon Twigs’ Brian and Michael D’Addario.
