Eyck, active as a composer, carilloner, and recorder player, produced two major publications titled "Euterpe" and "Der fluyten lust-hof". The second of these contained 144 pieces for descant recorder that blended original variations with existing melodies, several of them taken from the Genevan Psalter. Eyck further identified a direct connection between a bell’s physical proportions and the resulting overtone patterns, observing that only a correctly formed bell would generate a pure harmonic series.
