Biography
The German indie rock band Jaguwar produces an expansive sonic blend of shoegaze textures and noisy space rock. Several EPs preceded their first proper album, the 2018 release Ringthing, with the follow-up LP Gold emerging in late 2021.
Formed in Dresden in 2012, the group spent the ensuing years refining the heavy sonic mass first heard on their opening EP, I, issued in 2015. One year afterward the trio—singer/guitarist Lemmy Fischer, singer/bassist Oyèmi Noize, and drummer Chris Krenkel—continued with II EP, whose spaced-out noise rock carried half-buried melodies. After signing to the German indie label Tapete Records, they cut their debut full-length Ringthing, which appeared in January 2018. The standalone single “Valley” arrived in 2020, after which the band broadened its approach and delivered the futuristic sophomore album Gold the following year.
