Biography
Baltimore’s Wildhoney came together as an indie quintet in 2011, with vocalist Lauren Shusterich, guitarists Joe Trainor and Marybeth Mareski, bassist Alan Everhart, and drummer Zac Inscho at its core. Their sound fuses layered shoegaze textures with noise-pop energy, drawing from everything between ’60s girl-group melodies and ’80s post-punk angularity. After honing both their style and local following inside Baltimore’s thriving indie circuit, the band issued two critically received 7" EPs on their own in 2013 and 2014; those recordings prompted Canadian punk imprint Deranged Records to add them to its roster. Teaming with producer Chris Freeland—known for his work with Wye Oak and Lower Dens—they tracked their first full-length, Sleep Through It, which appeared in the first months of 2015. Later that same year the group moved to Topshelf Records and delivered the six-track EP Your Face Sideways.
