Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Pity Sex draws on the hazy, distorted textures associated with 1990s alternative rock, weaving in elements of noise pop, indie pop, and shoegaze to differing degrees. The quartet—guitarist/vocalist Brittany Drake, guitarist/vocalist Brennan Greaves, drummer Sean St. Charles, and bassist Brandan Pierce—issued its debut EP, Dark World, in 2012 before delivering the full-length Feast of Love in 2013 via Run for Cover Records. That album received widespread critical acclaim, after which the band teamed with Adventures for a 2014 split EP that included their rendition of the Pixies’ “Gigantic.” During 2015 the group toured alongside fellow shoegaze outfit Ceremony and tracked its sophomore effort in Pennsylvania under producer Will Yip. Released by Run for Cover in April 2016, the resulting album carried the title White Hot Moon.
