Biography
Emerging amid the 2010s emo-punk resurgence in Britain, the Canterbury, England quartet Moose Blood draws inspiration from U.S. emo pioneers such as Jimmy Eat World, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, and Acceptance. Vocalist and guitarist Eddy Brewerton, guitarist Mark E. Osborne, bassist Kyle Todd, and drummer Glenn Harvey came together in 2012; that August they issued their opening trio of tracks on the Bukowski Demo (Summer '12), then staged their debut concert only months afterward. Although the musicians had sharpened their skills in hardcore outfits like Burn Down Rome and Harbours, they yearned for greater vocal emphasis and melodic depth. Those qualities surfaced on the debut EP Moving Home (Fist in the Air) and on the single "Boston" b/w "Orlando." A subsequent split EP with Departures appeared via No Sleep, prompting the label to sign the group; their well-received first album, I'll Keep You in Mind, from Time to Time, followed in 2014. Crafted under Saosin's Beau Burchell, the record reached number 45 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and offered refined emo-rock versions of earlier material. Buoyed by that release, Moose Blood appeared on Warped Tour and performed at the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Returning to the studio with Burchell's assistance in late 2015, the band inked a deal with Hopeless Records in 2016 and delivered the follow-up Blush, fronted by the single "Honey." After parting ways with Harvey in 2017, they welcomed drummer Lee Munday, who contributed to the next recording. That year also brought the singles "I Don't Love You" and "Talk in Your Sleep," the latter included on the third album I Don't Think I Can Do This Anymore, which arrived in early 2018 and marked Burchell's third production collaboration with the quartet.
