Originating from St. Albans, England, the British punk outfit Trash Boat crafts raw, emotionally charged bursts reminiscent of Knuckle Puck, The Story So Far, and Roam. The five-piece group assembled in 2014 around frontman Tobi Duncan, guitarists Dann Bostock and Ryan Hyslop, bassist James Grayson, and drummer Oakley Moffatt. Their opening EP, Look Alive, surfaced in 2015 and was followed later that year by Brainwork. After signing to Hopeless Records, they issued their debut full-length, Nothing I Write You Can Change What You've Been Through, in June 2016, which carried the singles "Strangers" and "How Selfish I Seem." A nationwide headline run supported the album, encompassing appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as opening slots for American hardcore outfit Beartooth on its U.K. dates that December.

Trash Boat followed with the 2018 sophomore album Crown Shyness, which arrived after the single "Shade." Production on the subsequent record, Don't You Feel Amazing?, came from Jason Perry of Don Broco and Fatherson. The sessions steered the band toward a more direct, harder-edged rock sound while Tobi Duncan supplied increasingly personal and straightforward lyrics; the album reached listeners in mid-2021.

Early 2022 saw the group complete a two-month U.S. tour alongside Blackpool, England's Boston Manor. The remainder of the year involved supporting Enter Shikari across a two-month North American trek, with European dates also opening for the fellow St. Albans band. For their fourth album, Trash Boat chose to self-record and produce at home with equipment gathered over the years rather than enlist an external producer. The brutal 2023 singles "Delusions of Grandeur" and "Liar Liar" marked the first output from those sessions and were promoted via European tours with I Prevail and the Offspring. Leaning further into dynamic metalcore and away from earlier pop-punk roots, October 2024's Heaven Can Wait included collaborations with I Prevail's Eric Vanlerberghe and Crossfaith's Kenta Koie.
