In Her Own Words

Hailing from Los Angeles, the emo/pop-punk revival outfit In Her Own Words fuses a rhythm section inclined toward hardcore with emo-pop vocal lines. The group, featuring Joey Fleming on vocals, Ian Berg on guitar, Eric Ruelas on bass, and Omar Sultan on drums, followed its 2010 Brand New Me EP by delivering the debut full-length Everything I Used to Trust in 2013. One year afterward came the acoustic East & West EP, succeeded in 2015 by the six-song Bad Weather, two of whose tracks were rendered acoustically. In 2016 the quartet entered InVogue Records with its first release for the label, the album Unfamiliar. Building on that progress, the band unveiled a deluxe edition of Unfamiliar in 2017 and then prepared its third album, Steady Glow, which arrived in 2019.
