Young Culture

Hailing from Albany, New York, Young Culture is a melodic pop-punk outfit built around the core partnership of vocalist Alex Magnan and guitarist Gabe Pietrafesa. The pair, who first became friends and occasional musical collaborators in middle school, launched the project in 2016 with the eight-track mini-album You. Although they operated primarily within pop-punk conventions, the duo also displayed a flair for broader pop textures, which they explored that same year through the smooth, rhythm-focused YC mixtape that drew on R&B and hip-hop influences. Following those experiments, they refocused on guitar-driven pop-punk with fresh insight on the 2017 Blue EP. The following year the lineup expanded to a quartet with the addition of Troy Burchett and Nick Cavin, enabling the group to begin performing live as a full band. Equal Vision Records signed Young Culture in 2018, and the label issued the (This Is) Heaven EP as their debut release early in 2019.
