Cemetery Sun, hailing from Northern California, fuses pop-punk, alt-rock, and electro-R&B into a sound that bridges the anthemic force of 30 Seconds to Mars, the coastal ease of Walk the Moon, and the raw emotional drive of Twenty One Pilots. Formed in Sacramento, the group—Josh Doty on vocals, Austen Butler on drums, Elliot Polokoff handling guitar and production, and Jesse Mancillas on lead guitar—first assembled in 2003. Rather than touring immediately, they spent years refining their material in the studio and built up an extensive catalog of tracks. In early 2016, their single "Fake Love" drew the interest of Mikey Flom, son of Lava founder Jason Flom, which led to a contract with the Universal Music Group label. The band’s self-titled debut EP arrived later that same year.
