Biography
In 2003, alternative rock group Young Guns originated in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The five-piece lineup consists of frontman Gustav Wood, bassist Simon Mitchell, drummer Ben Jolliffe, and guitarists John Taylor alongside Fraser Taylor. Their initial EP Mirrors, issued in 2009, quickly generated notice. Lyrics focused on apocalyptic themes paired with expansive, arena-scale anthems prompted parallels to LostProphets and Taking Back Sunday while earning the band a support appearance on the opening night of Bon Jovi’s London residency at the O2 Arena. Building on that exposure, they delivered their first full-length release, All Our Kings Are Dead, the next year.
Recorded in Thailand with ex-Sikth guitarist Dan Weller, the follow-up Bones marked their second album. Issued in 2015 on Virgin EMI, their third studio effort Ones and Zeros contained the singles “I Want Out” and “Speaking in Tongues.” At the start of 2016, Jolliffe departed on amicable terms ahead of sessions for the next project. Bringing in Chris Kamrada on drums, the group traveled to New Jersey’s House of Loud to work with producer David Bendeth on the successor to Ones and Zeros. After the advance singles “Bulletproof” and “Mad World,” Echoes surfaced that September.
