Thousand Below

Formed in San Diego, California, the post-hardcore outfit Thousand Below surfaced during 2016, blending raw emotional lyrics with melodic guitar lines, explosive breakdowns, and the expansive textures associated with post-rock. Their approach draws from peers such as Bring Me the Horizon, Underoath, and Devil Wears Prada, coalescing around vocalist James DeBerg, guitarists Devin Chance and Josh Thomas, bassist Josh Billimoria, and drummer Garrett Halvax. The members assembled rapidly, producing an early demo that caught the attention of Rise Records and led to the October 2017 release of their first full-length album, Love You Let Too Close. Shortly ahead of work on the follow-up, guitarist Chance exited the lineup. The resulting sophomore album, Gone in Your Wake, surfaced in 2019 with a streamlined, electronics-heavy production that further challenged conventional post-hardcore boundaries.
