Emerging from Lexington, Kentucky in 2013, the post-hardcore quintet Too Close to Touch demonstrated an ability to fuse intensity with tunefulness through vocalist Keaton Pierce, guitarists Mason Marble and Thomas Kidd, bassist Travis Moore, and drummer Kenneth Downey. Their sound combined indie rock sophistication with punk-driven emo pop vigor in the style of Sleeping with Sirens and the 1975. After sharpening their abilities on tour alongside kindred acts Emarosa and A Lot Like Birds, the band signed with Epitaph Records and released their self-titled debut EP in 2014. The group’s first full-length album, Nerve Endings, appeared in March 2015, while their follow-up, Haven’t Been Myself, arrived the next year. October 2017 brought the emotionally charged single “Leave You Lonely.” Lead singer Keaton Pierce died on March 26, 2022 at the age of 31.
