Biography
Palisades, a post-hardcore band originating from New Jersey, merge the melodic intensity and raw force associated with Deftones and Linkin Park into a breakdown-driven style that maintains broad appeal comparable to Bring Me the Horizon and Hands Like Houses. Their debut arrived as Outcasts in 2012, yet chart success peaked with the fourth album Erase the Pain in 2019, followed by Reaching Hypercritical in 2022.
The outfit formed during 2011 in Iselin with an initial lineup of vocalist Louis Miceli, guitarists Xavier Adams, Matthew Marshall, and Earl Halasan, bassist Brandon Sidney, plus drummer Aaron Rosa. Rise Records secured the group, which then delivered the EP I'm Not Dying Today in 2012 before unveiling the full-length Outcasts the next year; that release entered the Billboard 200 at number 181 and reached number seven on the Hot New Artists chart. Mind Games appeared in 2015 as a sophomore effort steeped in electronic textures that advanced their chart trajectory, incorporating guest turns from blackbear on "Player Haters' Ball," Champs on the title track, and Garret Rapp on "People Like Us."
Two lineup adjustments followed, with Brandon Elgar stepping in for Sidney and Christian Mochizuki replacing Halasan, leading to the January 2017 release of the third album Palisades. This self-titled project shed the EDM leanings of its predecessor in favor of a more conventional approach. The trajectory continued on Erase the Pain, issued in 2018 and marking their strongest Billboard 200 showing at number 175. By December 2021 Miceli had departed, leaving Elgar as the lone frontman; that month also brought the single "My Consequences," the initial preview of Reaching Hypercritical, the band's fifth studio album, which surfaced in 2022.
