San Antonio outfit Nothing More fuse intricate progressive rock, intense heavy metal, and expansive alt-rock crafted for broad radio play. Mainstream breakthrough arrived in 2014 once their self-titled fourth album dominated active rock airwaves. Three Grammy nominations followed for the 2018 successor The Stories We Tell Ourselves, after which the group further honed its heavy melodic approach across the anthemic Spirits in 2022 and Carnal in 2024.

Citing influences ranging from System of a Down and 30 Seconds to Mars to Incubus, Mars Volta, and Killswitch Engage, the quartet coalesced around longtime associates Jonny Hawkins, Daniel Oliver, Mark Vollelunga, and Paul O'Brien. Early years were devoted to refining their sonic identity, clarifying their perspective through constant touring, maintaining a rigorous independent ethos, and distributing recordings without label support. A 2013 contract with Eleven Seven Music Group—home to Drowning Pool, Sixx:A.M., Papa Roach, and Hellyeah—led to the release of their label debut the next year, anchored by the aggressive lead track "This Is the Time (Ballast)." The project marked a commercial turning point, achieving strong chart placement and expanding their reach considerably. September 2017 brought the follow-up The Stories We Tell Ourselves, propelled by "Go to War," which earned Grammy nods in the categories of Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album while becoming their top-selling release.

The pounding single "Spirits" surfaced in early 2022 ahead of the sixth studio album of the same name, issued that late summer. Carnal arrived in 2024 and contained the Modern Rock Airplay chart-topper "If It Doesn't Hurt," plus collaborations such as "House on Sand" with Eric Vanlerberghe of I Prevail, "Angel Song" featuring David Draiman of Disturbed, and "Stuck" with Sinizter.
