Roam, a British pop-punk outfit, came together in Eastbourne, England during 2012. Their sound drew from New Found Glory, blink-182, Sum 41, and Simple Plan, delivering high-energy urgent vocals, kinetic riffs, and pogo-style drums that revived the pre-screamo textures of the early-2000s pop-punk wave in the vein of Paramore or All Time Low. Once assembled, the five-piece—Alex Costello on lead vocals, Alex Adam on vocals and guitar, Sam Veness on guitar, Matt Roskilly on bass, and Charlie Pearson on drums—issued two independent EPs, No Common Ground in 2012 and Head Down in 2013. Hopeless Records signed the band in 2014, after which they issued a third EP, Viewpoint, the following year. Early 2016 saw the arrival of their first full-length, Backbone, produced by Drew Lawson at Steel City Studios, with the second album, Great Heights & Nosedives, appearing in 2017. Two years after that the group released their third effort, Smile Wide.
