Heart Attack Man formed in Cleveland, Ohio, as a high-energy pop-punk outfit driven by sharp riffs, spirited delivery, and an attractively raucous texture. After two independent EPs the quartet signed with Triple Crown, which issued their first album, The Manson Family, in 2017. The group sustained a steady pace of activity with numerous singles, additional EPs, split releases, and the 2019 full-length Fake Blood. Their style took on greater weight and a gloomier atmosphere for the 2021 Thoughtz & Prayerz EP and the still more inward-looking Freak of Nature album, produced by Lil Aaron and released in 2023.

The band started in 2013 as a solo project led by singer and guitarist Eric Egan. It quickly grew into a four-piece featuring guitarist Tyler Sickels, bassist Seamus Groman, and drummer Adam Paduch. The lineup first released a self-titled EP on its own imprint, then followed with the Acid Rain EP on Mayfly in 2014. The members spent the balance of that year on the road throughout North America and later recorded their debut album at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia with Modern Baseball’s Ian Farmer handling production; Triple Crown Records put the record out in 2017. Teaming with fellow Ohioans McCafferty, the band issued a split EP on Take This to Heart Records in early 2018. Their second album, the 2019 release Fake Blood, moved in a more somber direction while retaining its forceful edge.

After touring alongside Boston Manor and Knuckle Puck, Heart Attack Man issued the hard-hitting five-song Thoughtz & Prayerz EP in 2021, which included widely streamed tracks such as “Pitch Black” and “Leap Year.” Having exited Triple Crown, the band resurfaced in 2023 with the reflective third album Freak of Nature. The record, again produced by Lil Aaron, centers on themes of isolation, acceptance, and personal growth.
