Biography
California outfit Mom Jeans. echo the confessional strain of Modern Baseball and the Front Bottoms, blending raw emotion with indie-rock drive across their catalog. The band came together in Berkeley while its members were still enrolled in college, issuing a self-titled two-song single in 2014. After circulating a few early demos, they tracked their first full-length with producer Ryan Ellery, whose credits also include Just Friends and Meet Me in Montauk. Best Buds surfaced as a self-release in 2016 and soon drew enough notice for its loose, emo-inflected punk approach that Counter Intuitive Records stepped in to reissue it. Rather than touring extensively, the group remained in Berkeley to complete their degrees, limiting live appearances to a handful of selected shows. A split single with Graduating Life arrived in 2017, followed by the four-way EP NOW That's What I Call Music, Vol. 420, which also featured Prince Daddy & the Hyena and Pictures of Vernon. Puppy Love, again produced by Ellery, emerged on Counter Intuitive in 2018 and prompted the band’s first substantial run of dates across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe. The buoyant standalone track “What’s Up?” preceded their third album, Sweet Tooth, which reached listeners in 2022.
