England's Basement emerged in 2010 from Ipswich as a five-piece whose sound merges melodic hardcore with punk textures that echo the raw, self-reliant ethos of nineties DIY scenes. The lineup comprises vocalist Andrew Fisher, guitarists Alex Henery and Ronan Crix, bassist Duncan Stewart, and drummer James Fisher. One year after forming, the group issued its first full-length, I Wish I Could Stay Here, through Run for Cover Records. Their second album, Colourmeinkindness, arrived in 2012; after completing a United States tour that same year, the members declared an indefinite hiatus. Although the break lasted, the band observed that their recordings continued to reach new listeners. This realization prompted a return that yielded the well-received 2014 EP Further Sky. Basement’s third studio album, Promise Everything, surfaced on Run for Cover in 2016. The following year the band signed with the American punk imprint Fueled by Ramen, which put out a revised version of Promise Everything featuring a freshly recorded take of the title track. A United States tour backed the reissue. Shortly afterward, Basement released its fourth album, Beside Myself, in late 2018.
