Biography
Pet Symmetry arose in Chicago when three emo veterans—singer/bassist Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It., singer/guitarist Erik Czaja from Dowsing, and drummer Marcus Nuccio of What Gives—launched the power pop-punk band in summer 2013 as a casual side effort aimed at lighter material. Early DIY efforts, among them a split single with Florida band Dikembe plus the EPs Two Songs About Cars and Five Songs on a Homemade Compact Disc, quickly drew strong fan support that transformed the tongue-in-cheek project into a lasting concern.
Two years after their debut, Asian Man Records released the Beach Boys-punning full-length Pets Hounds, revealing the trio in confident melodic stride. They returned in summer 2017 on Polyvinyl Records with the follow-up Vision. In 2020 the band gathered stray non-album cuts together with several unreleased live recordings for the retrospective anthology Runway Looks: The Pet Symmetry Collection 2012 -2020.
