Biography
Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Fireworks blend an energetic, guitar-driven style with catchy melodies and introspective lyrics in their pop-punk sound. The band formed in 2005 in Metro Detroit, with David Mackinder handling lead vocals, Brett Jones on lead guitar, Chris Mojan playing rhythm guitar and providing backing vocals, Kyle O'Neil on bass, and Tymm Rengers behind the drums. That same year they recorded a demo titled Can't Hardly Wait, followed in 2006 by their first official release, the six-song EP We Are Everywhere, which came out on Run for Cover Records. Extensive road work ensued, with appearances alongside Set Your Goals, Valencia, and Strung Out plus a slot on the Vans Warped Tour. In 2009 Fireworks joined the Triple Crown Records roster and issued their debut full-length album, All I Have to Offer You Is My Own Confusion. Chad Gilbert of New Found Glory produced the record and later joined them on tour, as did Saves the Day, H20, and Four Year Strong. Gospel arrived as their sophomore album in 2011, prompting further live activity that extended to Europe and Australia. March 2014 brought their third album, Oh, Common Life, supported by a U.S. tour featuring the Wonder Years, Real Friends, Citizen, and Modern Baseball.
