Biography
The Ghost Inside emerged from Los Angeles as a melodic metalcore ensemble propelled by the rapid-fire riffs and explosive breakdowns characteristic of the style. Mainstream recognition first arrived in 2014 via Dear Youth, an album that registered on multiple Billboard charts. A devastating tour-bus crash outside El Paso, Texas, forced the group into hiatus the following year after inflicting critical injuries on several members, yet the outfit reappeared in 2020 with a self-titled fifth album that marked a powerful comeback. Their sixth studio release, Searching for Solace, surfaced in 2024.
Jonathan Vigil handles vocals, Zach Johnson and Chris Davis play guitar, Jim Riley covers bass duties, and Andrew Tkaczyk sits behind the drum kit. The musicians first assembled in 2006 as A Dying Dream, issuing the EP Now or Never before adopting their current name and delivering the well-received debut album Fury and the Fallen Ones in 2008. Momentum built with 2010’s Returners, which coincided with increased touring alongside Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me the Horizon, and Parkway Drive. Get What You Give, the third studio effort, appeared on Epitaph in 2012 under the production of A Day to Remember’s Jeremy McKinnon. November 2014 brought Dear Youth, the band’s strongest commercial showing to date and another multi-chart Billboard entry. The next year’s collision with a tractor-trailer claimed the lives of both drivers and left Jonathan Vigil, Zach Johnson, Andrew Tkaczyk, and two additional individuals hospitalized in critical condition; Tkaczyk ultimately underwent a leg amputation. After regaining their footing, the group conducted its first official rehearsal in early 2018 and prepared to reenter the studio. On July 13, 2019, they performed a sold-out concert at The Shrine in Los Angeles, then issued the self-titled fifth album in 2020, which reached the Billboard 200. A digital document of that 2019 performance, Rise from the Ashes: Live at the Shrine, followed in July 2021. The outcast anthem “Wash It Away,” issued in February 2024, served as the lead single for Searching for Solace, the sixth long-player that arrived that June.
